Dominion Enterprises is a provider of highly targeted, classified advertising reaching millions of consumers through digital sites and print publications. Their body of work includes a wide range of industries; real estate, apartments, specialty vehicles, employment, automotive, and travel. Dominion’s collected works include For Rent, boats.com, The Employment Guide, homes.com, and HotelCoupons.com, and specialty vehicle resources CycleTrader.com and Commercial Truck Trader.

Business Challenges

Like many companies, Dominion had an issue with silos developing over time as their business expanded. Theirs was compounded by the large mix of different businesses, each operating independently and segregated.

The result– multiple overlapping and duplicate systems creating a multiverse of knowledge silos.

In a typical day, the average employee may need to use five to ten separate, independent systems. Employees had to navigate this array of applications including home-grown, on prem, and SaaS under the umbrella of many technologies (Java, RPG, PHP, ColdFusion, .NET, Domino, Ruby, etc.), websites, and a variety of points of access (Single Sign On, Same Sign On).  A manager’s daily needs could even be double that of their employees’.
